Community Investment Program

Since 2014, Roxgold Sanu, through the Yaramoko mine, has been conducting an ambitious community investment program for the Bagassi commune, the Bale province and the Boucle du Mouhoun region. In collaboration with local authorities, this program aims to improve education, health, access to drinking water, hygiene, sanitation and economic development.

More than 240 projects have been completed, including the construction and equipping of schools and health centers, the creation of market garden sites and the opening of vocational training centers for young people. In total, more than 2.4 billion FCFA has been invested in these community initiatives.

Contribution to the Local Development Mining Fund

Since the operationalization of the Local Development Mining Fund in 2019, which allocates 1% of tax-free turnover to local authorities, the Bagassi commune has received more than 3 billion FCFA to finance its development projects.

In 2022, Roxgold Sanu's contribution to the Mining Fund amounts to 1,253,763,591 FCFA, highlighting the company's ongoing commitment to community development and the well-being of local populations.

Local Programs and Initiatives

Roxgold Sanu SA implements initiatives aimed at strengthening the capacities of local communities around the Yaramoko mine. In 2022, the local content program enabled Burkinabe suppliers to provide goods and services worth 88.39 billion FCFA to the mine, while creating employment opportunities for young people through qualifying training.

Today, 88.1% of employees at the Yaramoko mine are Burkinabe, half of whom come from neighboring communities. In addition, 13% of qualified positions are held by women, including 6.5% in management positions, demonstrating the company's commitment to equality and inclusion.

Livelihood Support Programs

For people affected by mining projects, Roxgold Sanu has implemented livelihood restoration programs, including:

  • Agricultural intensification
  • Support for income-generating activities

These initiatives contribute to sustainable local economic development and strengthen the well-being of neighboring communities.

Environmental Protection

Roxgold Sanu SA applies an environmental policy compliant with national regulations and international standards, including the ISO 14001 standard. In 2023, the company obtained dual ISO 14001:2015 certification for environmental management and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety. These distinctions reinforce its commitment to integrating mining sector best practices.

The actions carried out by Roxgold Sanu aim not only to comply with legal obligations, but also to generate a positive environmental impact through biodiversity protection and enhancement programs, thus contributing to sustainable mining in Burkina Faso.

Dialogue and Transparency

Roxgold maintains ongoing dialogue with all its stakeholders in order to build lasting trust relationships. This process of consultation and transparency translates into weekly meetings with local administrative authorities, monthly meetings with neighboring communities, as well as quarterly consultations through communal and provincial monitoring committees.

This participatory approach, based on win-win partnership, fosters a serene business climate, contributes to community development and strengthens Roxgold's anchoring in the Burkinabe mining sector by supporting harmonious and sustainable development.
